Create art for Marriott’s first
Moxy Hotel — a design-led,
fun and a stylish hotel brand
that rebels against the traditional
economy hotel experience.


The Brief

It takes “moxie” to create Moxy —
Marriott started with a blank canvas
and curated a whole new world
of hospitality to excite travelers,
including buzzy lobbies, inspiring
design and tech savvy touch points.

Objective

The new Moxy Milan invites artists
from around the world to submit
an exclusive piece of artwork in response to the Moxy Hotel
Creative Invite on Talenthouse.
Judges will select a winner
to be the cornerstone of the
art collection at the hotel.

Solution

Create “MOXY BUZZ” a bold,
vibrantly colored design capturing
the attitude and character of Milan,
Italy; the world capital of design.
Submission displays the Moxie
attitude: unexpected, spirited
and fun!

Outcome

Awarded: Shortlist Finalist.
“MOXY BUZZ” entry was
one of 300 entries worldwide.

MOXY BUZZ

This finished vibrant painting evokes the spirit of style with attitude. Splashes of color in tangerine, magenta, turquoise and cobalt blue grace the canvas with unexpected movement — buzzing with energy.

MEDIUMS + TOOLS

Liquitex acrylic paints, spray paint, computer art, assorted paint brushes and squeegee.

PROCESS

Experimenting with various brightly colored acrylic paints: spraying, smearing, spreading and flicking.

DIGITAL ENTRY

300+ entries were uploaded onto Talenthouse’s website. Voting for the artwork was open to the public.
Final selections were made by a group of judges. "MOXY BUZZ" was awarded “Shortlist Finalist”
by the Head of Global Community Marketing.
